Luxury Car Rental - More Than Just a Car

Whether island-hopping on your next vacation or adding a thrill to a business meeting, the right luxury car rental can elevate your journey from ho-hum to exhilarating. But renting an exotic car isn’t as simple as stepping behind the wheel.

Make sure you know what to look for when shopping for a luxury vehicle to avoid surprises at the counter and unnecessary deductions from your deposit.

Luxury Cars

For some, a luxury car is more than just a mode of transportation. It’s a statement, a status symbol and a way to be seen.

Often, the higher price tag for a luxury vehicle includes more amenities and features, such as high-tech driver-assist technology, advanced connectivity elements, autonomous capabilities and more. In addition, luxury cars are often built with better materials and come with extended warranties.

The top luxury brands include BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche. They are joined by Volvo, Aston Martin and Jaguar. If you’re looking to level up on your next exotic rental car, consider a sedan from one of these premium automakers. There’s a body style for every need, from roomy family cruisers to track-capable four-doors. These vehicles are also a popular choice for business travel.

Exotic Cars

Exotic cars are often booked for rental because of their beauty, speed and power. A 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo can zoom to 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and redefines precision automotive engineering.

Rent-A-Vette owner Kiland says his customers come for a variety of reasons, from fulfilling their childhood automotive fantasies to impressing clients at a business event. He adds that renting exotic cars is a safer option than leasing, because professional rental companies offer business-grade insurance.

Lehmann-Haupt notes that exotic car rental businesses typically require a criminal background check, driving record and credit report for clients. Some even require a security deposit. For example, Gotham Dream Cars charges a $10,000 security deposit on top of a $1,500-$5,000 per day rental fee. This is because most of their vehicles cost more than $100,000 to buy.

SUVs

Full-size luxury SUVs seat seven or more passengers and have room for multiple pieces of luggage. They also feature luxury amenities like leather seats and a sunroof.

Whether you’re renting for business or pleasure, you can upgrade to a premium SUV at the counter. The associate can help you select the right vehicle based on how much space you’ll need for your people, luggage and equipment.

When you book a rental online, you’ll see a vehicle photo and description with an option to “or similar.” This means the actual model is subject to availability and the car company will supply a similar sized model at no extra cost to you. Some luxury and specialty vehicles have higher authorization or deposit amounts. These vehicles may require a credit card hold of $500 or more.

Convertibles

Whether you want to cruise Los Angeles in style or discover the natural wonders of Hawaii, a convertible car rental is perfect for exploring the open road. A Ford Mustang convertible, for example, is a popular model for driving around LA or touring the beaches and volcanoes of Hawaii.

Experience a luxury convertible rental on Kauai’s Napali Coast and see the secluded beaches, waterfalls and cliffs that are its signature scenery. Or take a drive along the Hana Highway to experience Maui’s towns, beaches and volcanic landscapes at your own pace.

Choose from a rainbow of eye-catching exotic rental cars to drive on a Miami vacation. Feel the sultry breeze as you take in the city’s sights and sounds from your open-top luxury ride.

Sedans

Full-sized luxury sedans are a resurgent segment of the car market. Whether you’re driving to an important business meeting, on an idyllic family vacation or for an unforgettable road trip, a premium sedan offers first-class style and comfort.

Renting a luxury vehicle is an excellent way to experience the thrill of high-performance driving without having to invest in one. It also makes sense when you consider the hassles of owning a car, such as dealing with insurance companies, repairs and maintenance, spending weekends in your garage and arguing over parking space. With the sharing economy on the rise, owning cars makes less and less sense. Renting a luxury vehicle gives you the class and convenience you want, when you need it.
